Our coffee and conversations are in the Broadway Armory dining room and start at 9 a.m. Meet up with us there for lively exploration of each week’s topics.
Moderators will facilitate the discussion as the group explores interesting and sometimes controversial topics. Each week’s discussion is typically accompanied by some readings you’ll receive in advance via email. Topics for the subsequent week are decided at the previous discussion. This week’s topics are:
Topic 1: COVID: in retrospect, how well did the USA do in managing the pandemic? What lessons might we draw for use in future public health crises?
Topic 2: Environmentalism: what part can you play to help the environment - recycling, taking public transit or bicycling more, buying a hybrid car? Should the city have stricter standards, accountability, enforcement? How well does the city inform, educate, train us to follow the rules? How good is the city at recycling our recyclables once it leaves our homes?
If you are interested in participating in our discussions but are not on our distribution list, send an email to John Williams and we will add you to the list.
