Communication and Behavior Techniques for People Living with Dementia

Join us to learn about the various stages of Alzheimer's disease and related dementia and how the stage of the disease influences communication and behavior techniques. Practical techniques to communicate at each stage of the disease will be covered along with ways to address some of the most common disruptive behaviors.

Presented by Victoria Russo, PhD. Dr. Russo is presently Supervisor of Family and Support Services with the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services - Senior Services Division. She also is adjunct faculty with Concordia University Chicago in the Graduate Gerontology Program. She holds a PhD in Sociology with an emphasis in Life-course and Aging issues  and a Master’s degree in Gerontological Studies. Dr. Russo spent five years as Program Director in Philadelphia for the local Alzheimer’s Association Chapter and three years with Temple University’s Institute on Aging as the Pennsylvania Statewide Training Manager.

All are welcome but if you are interested in volunteering with the Edgewater Memory Cafe, this would be especially beneficial.
