Coping with Grief and Loss

We all experience losses throughout our lives and grieve accordingly. In this presentation we will learn about the different kinds of loss and the categories of grief that can accompany them. We will discuss the difference between the normal reaction of grief and mental illnesses such as depression. Participants will have the opportunity to practice strategies for self-care and best practices when trying to support others through grief.

Presenter Maureen Burns (she/her/ella) is a Community Health Worker/Promotora de Salud with JourneyCare, a nonprofit provider of hospice and palliative care.  She works in and around Rogers Park, providing free community education and linking patients and loved ones to resources within their community.  She works to ensure that all community members can access culturally affirming end-of-life resources and care.

This presentation will use the Zoom platform. Please register in advance and you will receive the link to join the program.
