Edgewater Community Music Jam

  • Edgewater Branch Library 6000 North Broadway Chicago, IL, 60660 United States (map)

Join us for new community music jam sessions for musicians of all levels! Participants may also be singers and listeners. Sessions will be one hour and include group playing, solo/small group playing, and break/social time. Percussion instruments will be provided and participants are welcome to play them to keep a beat and enhance the music.

Participants may bring portable keyboard/piano, guitars, ukuleles, mandolins, violins, violas, cellos, basses, or autoharps. Brass and woodwind instruments are also welcome. Sorry – no electric guitars, electric bass, or drum kits.

Music will be provided in print form or projected on screen. We’ll play songs of varying styles, including folk, country, pop, standards, jazz, classical, Broadway, and seasonal.

Players are encouraged to bring music stands, tuners or guitar capos.

We welcome all ages – adults, teens, and families! Led by Edgewater’s own Mike Kennedy, a musician and retired music and technology teacher.
