Exploring the Value of Truth in Public and Private Life (part 1)

What role does, and should, truth play in our lives? Is the truth always valuable, or is there sometimes an important role for “comforting falsehoods”? Is it important for a government to always be truthful with its citizens? Is this particularly valuable in a democracy? Are there important exceptions? What counts as good grounds for believing something?

This two-part discussion series is hosted by Dr. J.P. Rosensweig, founder of the The Philosophy Institute: Bringing Ideas to Life. The Institute’s mission is to teach philosophy in a way that matters to people’s lives and to our society.

No background knowledge in philosophy is necessary – everyone is welcome!
