Did you know that someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds? And that strokes kill more than 130,000 Americans each year? Please join Loyola University Chicago Community Health nursing students as they discuss why stroke awareness is so critical. You'll learn about the different types of strokes, what happens during a stroke, and who is most at risk. You'll also get information about the signs and symptoms of a stroke and why getting treatment fast can reduce stroke-related brain damage and increase the chances of survival and recovery. There will be time afterwards for Q&A.
This program will be repeated on Thursday, October 26.
Offered in partnership with the Edgewater Branch Library.
Registration information is available on the Library’s website.
