Edgewater Village Chicago is holding a series of gatherings to chat about movies. Participants will view each film on their own and then join a group discussion via Zoom.
The films for March 13 are Lore and Amélie. Lore is a 2012 German movie that takes place at the end of World War II. Abandoned by their Nazi parents, five German siblings, led by fourteen-year-old Lore embark on a harrowing journey across their war-torn country.
Amélie is a 2001 French movie about a young woman who had a decidedly unusual childhood. Misdiagnosed with an unusual heart condition, Amélie didn't attend school with other children, but spent most of her time in her room, where she developed a keen imagination and an active fantasy life. Despite all this, Amélie has grown into a healthy and beautiful young woman who works in a café and has a whimsical, romantic nature. She decides to step into the lives of others around her to help them out.
Copies of Amélie are available on DVD at the Edgewater Branch library for checkout with your library card or you can watch it online through YouTube or another streaming service of your choice. Lore can be ordered on DVD from the Chicago Public Library or you can watch it online through YouTube or another streaming service of your choice.
Registration is required. You will receive an email with the link to join the online Zoom discussion group.
This program is co-sponsored by the Edgewater Public Library.
