Edgewater Village Chicago is holding a series of gatherings to chat about movies. Participants will view each film on their own and then join a group discussion via Zoom.
The films for May 22 are Philomena (2013) and Osama (2003).
PHILOMENA: A world-weary political journalist picks up the story of a woman's search for her son, who was taken away from her decades ago after she became pregnant and was forced to live in an Irish convent.
OSAMA: After the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan and the restriction of women in public life, a pre-teen girl is forced to masquerade as a boy in order to find work to support her mother and grandmother.
Copies of these movies are available on DVD at the Edgewater Branch library for checkout with your library card or you can watch them online through a streaming service of your choice.
Registration is required. You will receive an email with the link to join the online Zoom discussion group.
This program is co-sponsored by the Edgewater Public Library.
