Coffee & Conversation

We are happy to announce that beginning with the June 21st session Coffee & Conversation, the popular, biweekly conversation about current events facilitated by Tom Murphy and John Williams will return to in-person meetings. The venue will be the fenced-in, open-air patio of Rewired Pizza Café, 1100 W Thorndale, at the corner of Winthrop, near the Red Line Thorndale station.

The café has a variety of typical breakfast baked goods as well as a number of more substantial breakfast dishes. The coffee menu features locally roasted coffee beans and hand-crafted flavors.

Let’s take advantage of the warm weather and the opportunity to talk in person!! If you are unable to travel for whatever reason, we hope to make this a “hybrid“ meeting so that you can participate online.

Each week’s discussion is typically accompanied by some readings you’ll receive in advance via email. Topics for the subsequent week are decided at the previous discussion. This week’s topics are:

  • The on-going Congressional investigation of January 6th. What do you think of the hearings so far? What has surprised you? Disappointed you? What was the best part of them? What should be the next step?

  • Commercial enterprises and “social values”. What are the advantages and disadvantages to share holders, their employees and the public/society of for-profit business promoting particular social causes or values?

Register at least two days in advance by sending an email to tjmurphy4@comcast.net. You will then be sent the suggested readings and the Zoom link in case you are not able to attend in person.
