Join hosts Tom Murphy and John Williams at Rewired Cafe and enjoy locally roasted coffee and delicious breakfast items. Each week’s discussion is typically accompanied by some readings you’ll receive in advance via email. Topics for the subsequent week are decided at the previous discussion. This week’s topics are:
The future of Chicago’s downtown in the age of COVID:
Will it recover its pre-COVID workplace’s economic role and cultural importance?
What are the changes that have occurred, and still are occurring, and how will the city evolve?
Will employee “work life” be better in a decentralized “work from home” employment model?
Will Chicago lose regional importance and cultural influence without a bustling downtown?
The future of the Republican Party:
If Trump is not the Republican presidential candidate, what do MAGA voters do? Turn to MAGA candidates within the GOP? Form a third party?
Can the traditional (pre-MAGA) GOP reassert itself and still provide a political alternative to the Democratic Party?
Register at least two days in advance by sending an email to tjmurphy4@comcast.net. You will then be sent the suggested readings and the Zoom link in case you are not able to attend in person.
