Eat your values? We aim for that at Wild Onion Market, a start-up food cooperative that will serve Edgewater and surrounding areas. Starting with a two-minute video about US food cooperatives, we’ll then invite people to brainstorm ideas about supporting Chicagoland farmers, producers, and local food artisans to bring healthy food accessible to families in our area. Drawing on democratic principles, cooperatives hire local folks, keep profits local, and re-invest in our communities.
Presenter Michelle Parker-Katz leads the Wild Onion Community Engagement Committee. She is a teacher and teacher educator and does community work focused on inclusion of multiple voices in democratic decision-making and preservation.
