You may recall that our volunteers wrote more than 500 greeting cards in December. Collected and distributed by Edgewater Village Chicago and the Edgewater Branch Library, that generosity lifted the spirits of our neighbors in assisting living, long-term care communities and rehabilitation facilities who received the cards. We're now expanding our card giving program to include Valentine's Day greetings and we are asking for your support.
We are looking for volunteers to write store-bought as well as homemade cards. Can you submit five cards, 10 cards or more? Perhaps you have kids or grandkids who are artistic or crafty? Consider asking them to help us.
If you want to create homemade cards, starting Jan. 21 through Feb. 5, a small selection of crafting materials may be picked up from the Edgewater Branch Library to be used in making Valentine's Day cards. They don't have to be elaborate; it's your heartfelt message that counts.

How to participate: Email Librarian Katy Linehan at klinehan@chipublib.org with the number of cards you can provide, and she’ll send further details, including suggestions for a personal message to write inside your valentines. Cards should be dropped off at the Circulation Desk of the Edgewater Library, 6000 N. Broadway, by Friday, February 5. If you can't stop by during open hours, cards can be left in the outside book drop as long as they are bundled and inside a small bag; clearly label the bag: Attn: Edgewater Village Chicago.
Thank you for your kindness in remembering others. For some it might be the only card that they receive.
